At Nowhere House, we then meet Ian, Ken, Lucie, Jamie (the prickly yet handsome librarian!) and learn why Ian asked Mika to come – to teach three young witches who also live in the house. However, Mika has “defied” Primrose’s rules by posting some witch videos pretending to be a witch, assuming no one would think that she is an actual witch. Mika has always followed the rules and lived in isolation due to Primrose’s insistence that witches should live separate lives and avoid any contact (except when they gather every third Thursday on the third month). It follows Mika Moon, a 31-year-old witch and a member of a group of witches in Britain, led by Primrose Beatrice Everly, the head of the group who also took Mika in and brought her to England. Sangu has crafted a delightful, heartwarming romantic comedy packed with quirky characters, poignant found family trope, and a Grumpy-Sunshine love story. The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches is Sangu’s adult debut novel, pitched as The House in the Cerulean Sea meets Practical Magic. One of my favorites reads this year is The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. I’ve read some great and diverse books this year (hoping I can still do my best reads of 2022 later this month). We are finally closing down 2022, and I hope you had some fantastic reads.
